Leiji Matsumoto

JAPANESE MANGA ARTIST BORN IN KURUME, FUKUOKA PREFECTURE, 1938-2023

He is a one of the Japan’s most influential manga creators of several anime and manga series such as Galaxy Express 999, Space Pirate Captain Harlock and Space Battleship Yamato.  All of which were big hits from the mid-70s to the early 80s in Japan. He was honored with Order of the Rising Sun, Medal with Purple Ribbon in Japan and Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in France.
