Rie Yamashina (山科理絵 born in Chiba, Japan in 1977-), graduated from Musashino Art University in 2003 with a degree in Japanese painting. Her paintings reflect the various emotions that she has been experiencing, creating a bewitching and alluring world.

She often uses "Noh" as a motif in her paintings and draws with a delicate touch using Japanese painting materials, overlapping the two sides of a woman's emotions with the way the expression of a Noh mask appears to change on the stage. She is in charge of the illustrations for Kyogoku Natsuhiko's picture book "Kotorizo" about yokai (monsters). She has also done illustrations for many other novels.
