Step into the neon-soaked world of one of anime's most legendary OVAs with this stunning Eve Tokimatsuri acrylic stand figure from Megazone 23! This official Blistech piece captures the ethereal beauty of Eve, the virtual idol who captivated Japanese audiences in 1985 as one of the first and most influential OVAs ever made.
This crystal-clear acrylic stand showcases Eve's iconic design with vibrant, fade-resistant printing. As a virtual idol who predated Hatsune Miku by decades and influenced works like The Matrix, Eve represents a pivotal moment in anime history—a piece of the cyberpunk dreams of 1980s Japan that defined an era of creative animation.
Megazone 23was a groundbreaking commercial success in Japan in 1985, becoming one of the first and most influential Original Video Animations (OVAs) ever made. It captivated Japanese audiences with its cyberpunk vision and virtual idol Eve Tokimatsuri, helping to establish an entirely new format for anime distribution.
However, American audiences were robbed of experiencing this masterpiece. When U.S. distributors tried to bring it to America, they gutted it beyond recognition, awkwardly splicing it into "Robotech: The Movie" to capitalize on the Robotech TV series' massive success. Ironically, while the Robotech TV show was launching the American anime industry and creating legions of new fans, this theatrical cash-grab featuring Megazone 23 footage flopped spectacularly and barely escaped test markets in Texas.
The tragic irony? Megazone 23 could have been another landmark that rode Robotech's wave of popularity. Instead, it languished in obscurity for nearly two decades while American fans remained unaware that a genuine Japanese cyberpunk classic existed beneath that failed adaptation. It wasn't until 2004—twenty years later—that U.S. audiences finally got a proper release and could experience what Japanese fans had celebrated all along.
