He graduated from Tohoku University of Art and Design in Oil painting in 2001. Takamatsu’s haunting black and white imagery explores narratives of death and society. He mixes traditional and modern techniques. His monochrome objects are painted by a mixture of watercolor and opaque white pigments in gouache, acrylic paint. After meticulously painting multiple gouache layers, he uses depth mapping technique which adds shadows to 3D computer image. This image is composed of the gray pixels which is proportional to the distance from which the viewer sees it. The match of these two techniques give a real sense of depth and surrealisms in his works. He has had several gallery and museum exhibitions, including at the Opera Gallery, Paris, the Jonathan LeVine Gallery, Dorothy Circus Gallery in Rome and London and Corey Helford Gallery in Los Angeles.
